TrashBolt Data Sync

Save time With TrashBolt's Data Synchronization Model

TrashBolt has created an innovative data synchronization model that brings your existing customer data into the TrashBolt suite of apps.  This way, data in Trasbolt is up-to-date relative to your customer database/billing system.  We’ve made it simple and reliable.

Innovative & Reliable Data Synchronization

How did we achieve this?

The hauling space features a lot of very capable, but very old software systems.  These systems are used for billing, routing, and operations.  While TrashBolt has an available API, most of these systems do not have an API to move data in and out of their respective databases.  So, we had to build a data sync model that works for our current clients, with an eye to the future as APIs become more available in the hauling software landscape.

TrashBolt Data Sync API

Importing Data into TrashBolt

Since most of the systems out there don’t have an API to query, data comes into TrashBolt primarily via .xls or .csv files.  Most billing systems have a multitude of available standard reports that produce .xls and/or .csv files.  These reports include basic data, such as:

  • Customer name, address, phone, county, zip
  • Customer ID number
  • Route ID Number and Service Day of Week (Monday-Friday, etc).
  • Billing due date
  • Etc

In order for the Customer Notification System (CNS) to function, certain data is required from which a notification can be generated.  For example, in order for a “Please put your recycling cart out, tomorrow is recycling day” automated notification to occur, then “day of week” is needed as a data field. Each time data sync occurs, the relevant information from which to generate notifications is updated.  Then the CNS does the rest of the job.

The reports/files needed for Data Sync can oftentimes be automated.  We will work with your team to set up automated processes that require as little human action as possible.

Exporting Data out of TrashBolt

While we have some clients already leveraging the API capabilities of their current billing/routing/operations systems to move data into their software, most software systems in the hauling space do not have this ability.  Thus, again, we’re back to producing data files for import into those systems.  We have experience producing those formatted files for multiple back-end systems if you determine a data-in import best suits your business needs.

While a  strategy is a “nice to have” feature, it often is not a “must have.”  In other words, data produced by TrashBolt can still be keyed into your back-end system, just like you’re doing now.  Either way, TrashBolt will work with your team to leverage possible data-in strategies and processes based on the capabilities of your team, and back-end system(s).
